Buckminster Primary School will hold its summer fete on Saturday and feature a dog show.
The fete will include a dog show and dog agility, where visitors can even ‘rent-a-dog’ to try out the agility course if they don’t have their own. Registration is from 1pm and the dog show will start at 2pm.
Classes include Best Puppy, Best Bitch, Best Dog, Best Veteran, Best Child Handler, Waggiest Tail and Sausage Run. Winners in each class go through to Best in Show. Entry is £2 per class or three classes for £5. The show is sponsored by Oakham Vet Hospital and there are several prizes, rosettes and trophies up for grabs.
There will be a variety of stalls at the fete including local crafts, handmade jewellery, glitter tattoos, sweets, cupcakes, toys and teddies. You can try your hand at old favourites such as Hook a Duck, Splat the Rat and Win a Bottle. Everyone will be a winner with our Lucky Dip and Tombola games.
If you are competitive, then you can enter the Didi car races, Beat the Goalie and our Pin ball championships. Don’t forget the ‘Headmaster in Stocks’, bouncy castle, paint-a-tile, mini-assault course and human fruit machine to name but a few of the numerous attractions.
Visitors can sample Leeson’s Family Butcher’s famous sausages and burgers or relax with a lovely cup of tea and a scone with home-made jam. You can also quench your thirst the licensed beer tent, where there will be real ales from Oldershaw Brewery on tap and more.
The fete runs from 12.30pm to 5pm. It is a PTFA-organised event to raise funds for the school. This year the school came out of special measures and received a Good with Outstanding Features report from Ofsted.
