Drink driver may have fallen asleep on A1 at Grantham
A DRIVER was banned from the road for two years after drinking more than two litres of cider before getting behind the wheel.
Nigel Reynolds, 47, crashed his Ford Mondeo on the A1 at Grantham on Sunday, August 5.
Reynolds was driving from his home in Arthur Place, Doncaster when he lost control of the car.
When police attended the scene Reynolds initially said he believed he had clipped another vehicle while overtaking. But after failing to describe to officers any details about the other vehicle involved - even whether it was a car or a lorry - he admitted he may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The court heard Reynolds had drunk two litres of cider before setting off and another 500ml during the journey.
Reynolds blew 97 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Reynolds admitted drink driving. He was banned from driving for two years and fined £1,250.
