The driver of a skip lorry was taken to hospital following a bridge strike yesterday.

The lorry hit the railway bridge in Springfield Road at about 11am and caused a large crack in the structure of the bridge. Springfield Road was later closed at about 3.30pm for rail engineers to inspect the bridge and the road was closed for a further two hours.

The driver of the lorry was taken to Lincoln County Hospital but his injuries were not thought to be serious.
