FOOTBALL fan John Foster is looking to raise money in memory of his father

John lost his father due to problems caused by diabetes and has vowed to raise funds for the Grantham Diabetes Centre.

He’s been helped out thanks to a lifelong friendship with Nottingham Forest star Paul Anderson.

Paul has donated the shirt he wore against Watford on Boxing Day, signed by almost every member of the current Forest squad.

John, 37, of Worcester Road, Grantham, said: “Diabetes is something which often gets forgotten when people are looking for charities to help.

“It is not something which gets a lot of recognition.”

John is currently selling tickets for the raffle, which will take place at the Grantham Diabetes Centre at Grantham Hospital on April 16.

The shirt will soon be on display during the day in the window of Smart Lettings in Westgate, while R & N Windows Direct have agreed to display the shirt on their Grantham market stall this weekend.

John has known Paul Anderson since he was eight-years-old.

He said: “I’ve followed his football career ever since he was little from park football to where he is today.

“I’m really grateful for all of his help and the help of everyone else.”

Tickets are available at Belvoir Gallery in Westgate, the NFU in Dysart Road, Smart Lettings and Grantham Diabetes Centre.
