A former mayor of Grantham has been presented with a new past mayor’s medal after hers was stolen in a burglary.

Dorothy Dawson, who was Mayor of Grantham in 1998, received the medal from current mayor Ian Selby, whose idea it was to replace the one she lost.

Dorothy, 87, said: “I was overwhelmed. It was so unexpected. It was so kind of them.”

Dorothy was presented with her medal at a coffee morning in the mayor’s parlour last week.
