Gambling man sees red and spins out of control
FRUSTRATION led an unemployed man who spent up to an hour-and-a-half gambling in a betting shop to attack one of the machines.
Stuart Frazier, 50, was playing on an electronic roulette machine at Mark Jarvis in Edinburgh Road, Grantham, when he lost his temper and struck the screen, breaking the machine.
Daniel Paulson, prosecuting, said: “He left the shop shouting about how he perceived the machine to be unfair. He told police he did not attempt to damage the machine but was frustrated by his losses.”
Frazier, who lives at home with his mother in Princess Drive, admitted criminal damage and was given a six-month conditional discharge. He must pay £85 costs but was told he would not have to pay compensation.
Chair of magistrates Graham Harman said: “We have noted your remorse. Accidental or otherwise, you were reckless.”
