A 61-year-old’s retirement plans went off course when he crashed his motorbike while twice over the drink-drive limit.
Stephen Lambert, of Main Street, Buckminster, admitted drink-driving after police were called to the scene of an accident on September 24 in Bridge End, Colsterworth.
Officers found Lambert who had been taking his girlfriend to view their new home when he lost control of his motorbike.
The court heard Lambert, who has twice previously before been convicted of drink-driving, had been drinking whiskey prior to the crash.
Giles Tyas, defending, said the mandatory three-year driving ban would hit Lambert hard as he is a HGV driver three-and-a-half years away from retiring.
Lambert was banned from driving for 42 months and must complete a 12-month community order including the “Drink Impaired Drivers” programme. He must also pay costs of £85 and a £60 surcharge.
