A 25-year-old man who stole a bottle of Bacardi was liable to steal things when he was drunk, Grantham magistrates heard.
Lee Ernest Prince, of Sedgebrook Road, Allington, admitted stealing a bottle of Limited Edition Bacardi from the Co-op in Corby Glen on November 10.
Prosecutor Marie Stace said Prince took the bottle of Bacardi without making any attempt to pay for it.
She said he drank the bottle.
He was identified on CCTV.
Defending, Bill Fraser said: “He is very sorry he stole the bottle of Bacardi.
“He did not have very much money at the time and he has a tendency to steal when he is in drink.
“The Bacardi was not recovered.
“He drank it.”
The court heard that Prince already owed the court more than £1,200 in fines for previous offences committed.
The magistrates gave him a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered him to pay compensation of £20, costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £15.
