A fork-lift truck driver has admitted to smashing the windows of cars belonging to his former girlfriend and her new partner.

Appearing before Grantham magistrates, Neil Moore, 39, of Dudley Road, Grantham, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to both a Ford Focus and a Peugout 206, as well as to an iPad and iPhone contained inside the latter vehicle.

Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting, detailed how on March 31 Moore went over to the home of his former girlfiend of four-and-a-half years, in Coles Way.

Moore believed she was in relationship with someone else, and on arrival noticed the Peugout 206 parked in the space which had previously been his, and also noted a bag inside.

He then returned and smashed the windows of the vehicle with an iron bar, grabbed the bag and broke its contents, as well as damaging the Ford Focus owned by his ex-girlfriend.

Police were called by neighbours who heard the commotion, and Moore was arrested.

Jane Bauer, defending, informed the magistrates that Moore was a man of previously good character and that he acted “in a moment of emotional weakness”.

The case was adjourned until May 22 for sentencing so that a report on Moore by the probation officer can be compiled and heard by the magistrates.

He was granted bail.
