An 82-year-old Ropsley man appeared before Grantham magistrates accused of sexual offences against a four-year girl.

David James McBride, of School Lane, Ropsley, is accused of assaulting a girl under 13 in Grantham on January 5, 2014, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13 on the same date.

Mr McBride denies both offences and magistrates adjourned the case to Lincoln Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on May 12.

He was granted bail on condition he does not contact three named persons, does not go within 100 yards of a specified address in Grantham and does not have unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16.
