A 40-year-old woman told police she was going home to inject heroin after they found her carrying two wraps of the drug.

Diane Lewis, of Manthorpe Road, Grantham, admitted possessing 0.4 grams of heroin on February 11.

Prosecuting, Tracey Ross told Grantham magistrates that two police officers saw Lewis and a male at 3pm in Castlegate, Grantham. Lewis acted suspiciously when she saw the officers and they discovered the wraps in her hand.

She admitted to police the heroin was for her own use and she was going home to inject it.

Chris Pye-Smith, defending, said it had been 10 years since Lewis’s last conviction. She accepted occasional drug use but it was something she was dealing with in her own way.

Magistrates fined Lewis £110 and ordered her to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20. They also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drug.
