A Grantham man agreed to be bound over by magistrates after facing a charge of being drunk and disorderly.

Liam Dickson, 23, of Beechcroft Road, Grantham, agreed to be bound over to keep the peace for 12 months in the sum of £50. The charge of being drunk and disorderly in Westgate, Grantham, on February 2 was withdrawn.

Prosecutor Paul Wood told the court that Dickson had been thrown out of a Grantham nightclub and was acting aggressively. He was “swinging” his head around at police officers who used a pepper spray on him.

An officer later said Dickson smelled of alcohol.

Mr Wood said a bind over in this case would be preferable and would act as a reminder to Dickson to talk to officers in future rather than act aggressively.

Dickson agreed that his behaviour on February 2 could have amounted to a breach of the peace.
