A Dalmatian from Grantham has won a competition run by Pets at Home in which 1,700 dogs took part.
Jasper is one of 12 photogenic dogs to have become stars of the ‘dogwalk’ after winning the Strike a Paws competition.
Four-year-old Jasper was voted joint winner of the XL category in the competition.
To enter, Pets at Home’s VIP (Very Important Pets) club members needed to upload a picture of their pet to the Strike a Paws Facebook App. A panel of judges chose finalists for each of the six size categories. The winners, voted for by the Pets at Home Facebook community, were the top two dogs in each of the six categories that received the most Facebook ‘likes’.
Winners then had the chance to become the face of this year’s Autumn/Winter dog fashion collection by taking part in an exclusive photo shoot in Manchester City Centre.
Carolyn Daly, owner of Jasper, said, “Jasper was thrilled to be chosen as one of the winners in the XL category. He absolutely loved it on the day. The photo shoot was a fantastic experience and he definitely enjoyed all the pampering and special treats.”
Scott Jefferson, marketing director at Pets at Home said: “This is the second time we’ve launched the Strike a Paws competition and the amount of interest we received this year has been fantastic. We received more than 1,700 entries, with breeds ranging from a Miniature Schnauzer to a Doberman, and we hope everyone enjoyed taking part.”
The 12 winners also received £50 worth of Pets at Home gift vouchers and a free grooming session at a Groom Room salon of their choice to ensure they were looking their best before their runway debut.
Winners will also be featured in the Autumn issue of Pets at Home’s My VIP magazine, in store in September, appear on the Pets at Home website and be displayed on promotional material in more than 370 stores across the UK. Some extra special treats for the winning dogs included a goody bag, a doggy outfit from the photo shoot and a special Pet Parcel which was packed with fun and exciting treats, toys and accessories from Pets at Home.
