Grantham driver was drunk from the night before
A “classic case” of driving after being drunk the night before landed a Grantham man in court on Monday.
Magistrates heard how police were called to Trent Road in Grantham at around 9.10am on December 6 after receiving reports of a collsision between two vehicles. Minor damage was caused.
When officers spoke to Emrah Baycuman, 20, they could smell alcohol on his breath and so carried out a breath test. A reading of 54 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath was given, over the 35mg legal limit.
Julian Sheen, defending, said: “This came about because Mr Baycuman had been drinking the night before.
“It’s a classic case of someone drinking one day, getting up in the morning and thinking they are OK when clearly they’re not.”
Baycuman, of Market Place in Grantham, was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £110 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
