Grantham Journal letter: Closed route is being used by bikers

Part of the Viking Way has been churned up by vehicles driving on it illegally.

Your correspondent, Neville Cooke, assures us that there is no evidence that damage to the Viking Way is caused by motorbikes.

We have met motorcylists using this route during the period of it being closed.

Not only were their tyres visibly cutting up the surface, but to gain access they must have passed, and ignored, the closure notices.

He asks why not extend the footpath onto the verges; it is precisely these flower-rich verges we all wish to see flourishing.
