A 24-year-old Grantham man was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court today after pleading guilty to causing significant injury to a child.
Sean McDonagh pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing.
The court heard that an eight-week-old baby was taken to Lincoln County Hospital in August 2012.
When the child was examined medical staff discovered that she had serious injuries to her legs and mouth as well as bruises to other parts of the body.
The child has since made a good recovery.
McDonagh was sentenced to two years imprisonment suspended for two years.
