Grantham woman receives cancer op at fourth attempt
A GRANTHAM woman whose cancer operation was cancelled three times finally underwent her operation on Monday (May 7).
Gillian Moulds, of Gloucester Road, Grantham, had her operation cancelled for a third time despite Health Secretary Andrew Lansley offering assurances to her brother that she would receive the proper care.
But Gillian’s operation finally went ahead at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham on Monday. She left intensive care on Wednesday and is currently recovering in the surgical ward.
However, Gillian’s brother Andrew Smith of Maplewood Drive, Grantham, has not given up his drive for better care for cancer patients.
He said: “I want to speak to the boss at Queen’s to ask him face-to-face ‘If this was your sister, would you be happy with the way she has been treated?’
“We have no complaints about the doctors and nurses - they have been fantastic.
“They are as frustrated as we are.”
