The A1 and the A52 junction near Barrowby were closed for several hours last night after a serious road traffic collision on the A1’s northbound carriageway.
At 7.22pm Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue crews from Grantham and Corby Glen attended the crash on the A1 involving a Ford Fiesta and a DAF Euro 5 HGV in a lay-by.
The driver was released from the Ford Fiesta using hydraulic rescue gear and taken by air ambulance to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries.
Debris was cleared from the section of the A1 and it was reopened in the early hours of this morning.
Police were also called to the scene and are appealing to any witnesses of the collision to call 101.
