High standard of entries at this year’s Long Bennington Summer Show
JUDGES of this year’s Long Bennington Summer Show commented on the high quality of entries.
The annual show took place on Saturday.
Secretary Carol Page said: “It was a good show this year with an excellent number of children’s entries and a high standard of adult entries, despite the very difficult growing season. Judges remarked on the usual high quality of entries again this year.
“We congratulate our president Gerry Elms on his success this year winning three awards including the C. K. Brown cup for the most points in show.”
Results: C.K. Brown cup for most points in show – Gerry Elms; Association cup for most points for classes for baking and flowers – Gerry Elms; Greenwood Memorial for best exhibit in baking and preserves (Jubilee Cake) – Janine Webster; H. Martin cup for best fruit exhibit (five dessert apples) – Pat Wall; W. Lane cup for most points for classes for vegetables – Gordon Barnes; Broughton cup for best exhibit overall (five runner beans) – Gerry Elms; Joyce Drury Memorial Bowl for best floral arrangement entry – Mary Hamblett; H. Martin cup for most points in children’s classes – Gilbert Wynn; President’s Prize for best exhibit in children’s classes (collage of a rockpool) – Sophie Craven; WI Joyce Drury Memorial Vase for WI member with most points in classes for baking and flowers – Mary Tivey; Derek Brewer Memorial for longest carrot – Fiona Shilling.
