‘John does and egg-celent job’ in organising biker runs
Mayor and Mayoress of Grantham Ian and Sarah Stokes with biker run organiser John Bartlett.
Every year, John Bartlett organises the Easter egg biker run, where hundreds of bikers carry and donate Easter eggs for children.
In recognition of his hard work in organising the event for the past 23 years, John was special guest at a dedicated presentation evening held at the Mayor’s Parlour in Grantham.
Mayor of Grantham Ian Stokes told those gathered that John deserved to be praised for his dedication over the years, before giving him a framed photo montage and a motorcycle money pot as a gift.
He added: “He deserves public recognition, he’s made such a wonderful achievement doing it for 23 years.”
A modest John, who started the bike run when he lived in Easthorpe near Bottesford, said: “This is for everybody, everybody works hard.”
Hundreds of bikers from far and wide make the trip from Bottesford to Grantham every year to deliver Easter egss which are then distributed by the Salvation Army.
Another biker run follows in December, where the bikers deliver toys as Christmas gifts.
* The Easter egg run will be held this year on Sunday, March 24, with bikers meeting at The Meres Leisure Centre as normal.
