Entrepreneurial John Kidd is back in business after opening his own town centre flower shop in the the George Shopping Centre.
Mr Kidd had previously run a flower stall from outside his home in Harrowby Road until a complaint led to South Kesteven District Council taking enforcement action against him.
The Journal reported on Mr Kidd’s efforts to keep his business afloat and last week he opened a new shop - Buster’s Blooms.
Mr Kidd said: “A lot of regulars have already turned up and it has all been positive. They have all wished me luck and I would like to thank those people who supported me in Harrowby Road for their loyalty.”
Mr Kidd, a former construction worker who has helped build countless homes throughout Grantham, has signed an initial six-month lease but is planning for the long term.
He said: “I can’t afford to let this fail. This is my livelihood for the foreeable future but I do think the business will take off.”
Hilary Pearce, manager of the George Shopping Centre, said she is only too happy to support businessmen like Mr Kidd.
She said: “We have got to get Grantham High Street thriving again - and we count ourselves as the High Street - because times are tough.
“So, hopefully, we can help by doing our bit and supporting Mr Kidd in his new venture.
Mr Kidd is equally positive about the support he has had.
She said: “Hilary has really pulled out all of the stops and done us proud.”
