DISABLED youngsters were able to have a go at their own Paralympic games thanks to the efforts of a Kesteven area riding school.
Kesteven Rideability at Hough-on-the-Hill, which provides horse riding opportunities for disabled children and adults, celebrated the official opening of the London 2012 Paralympic Games by holding their own version of some of the events on Thursday, only on horseback.
There were nine children taking part aged between nine and 13. They kicked off with an opening ceremony with Ryanna Hate riding her horse Spider and Emily Johnson carrying their version of the Olympic flame.
The children and their ponies then had a go at Rideability’s interpretation of the pentathlon, as well as a 100m sprint, a throwing competition, a paired relay race, horseback gymnastics and a bean bag placement competition.
