The UK’s first ever Elderflower Festival was a big success when more than over 2000 people attended and raised £2,300 for local charity The Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust.

Belvoir Fruit Farms, local elderflower cordial and pressé producer, held the festival at Belvoir Cricket Club in Knipton to mark the end of the British elderflower harvest and to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary. They were keen to raise money for a local cause and chose the cricket trust.

Formed in 2008, the Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust aims to help young people from rural or disadvantaged communities to become active in the countryside. Volunteers work on a variety of programmes which offer people the opportunity to enjoy cricket, whether participating in the game or coaching a team, and generally enable children and adults to engage with new friends in their community.

Director of the Trust Darren Bicknell said: “We are absolutely delighted that Belvoir Fruit Farms have been able to support the Trust. The Elderflower Festival was a superbly organised event and my special thanks also go to the Belvoir Lions for their support. It is a great thing to see a hugely successful local business such as Belvoir Fruit Farms supporting a local charity which influences the lives of over 2,000 children through sport and education each year.”

The money raised at the festival will be put towards a special reward for the hardworking volunteers of the Trust, in order to thank them for all their time and commitment, without which all the fantastic work that the Trust strives to deliver would not be possible.

Pev Manners, MD of Belvoir Fruit Farms, said: “Every penny donated to the Trust goes towards a truly worthwhile cause, helping young people of all ages and background to become involved within the community and to stay active. We’re absolutely delighted to be able to help The Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust.”
