Lions get to meet hearing dog Merlin
Grantham Lions Club president Keith Dowsett with Merlin and Denise Taylor, of Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, based in South Witham.
A HEARING dog was a very special guest at a meeting of the Grantham Lions Club last Thursday.
Canine Merlin was introduced to the Lions by Denise Taylor, from South Witham-based charity Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.
She told the group how the charity hopes to raise £30,000 for three new dogs, with the total raised currently standing at just over £23,700.
It is hoped that the dogs will go to young children, and will be able to alert them to emergencies and a doorbell ringing, plus act as a message carrier. The Lions have pledged to donate the proceeds of their annual charity concert next month.
President Keith Dowsett said: “We are proud to support such a good cause.”
