Man threw beer and punches in Grantham’s St Peter’s Hill

CCTV cameras recorded a man throwing punches and a can of beer in St Peter’s Hill in Grantham.

Nathan Page, 28, of Brook Street in Grantham, admitted a public order offence.

Marie Stace, prosecuting, said: “Mr Page was involved in an altercation with another male. He was seen on CCTV removing his jacket and swinging punches at the male.”

The two men repeatedly fell to the ground before Page threw a can at the man he was fighting with.

The pair went their separate ways before meeting up again in St Catherine’s Road where they had another altercation. When police arrived they were pushing and shoving one another.

In interview, Page admitted throwing punches but said they missed. He said it was he who had been assaulted and kicked in the ribs.

He said the altercation was little more than a “play fight”.

Page faced a second charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal but pleaded not guilty.

A trial date is yet to be set.
