Marathon running footballer raises £800 for Grantham Hospital

Ady Weavers donated 800 to Grantham Hospital.

A KEEN footballer has taken part in a marathon to help re-pay Grantham hospital staff for all the treatment he has received over the years.

Ady Weavers managed to raise £800 after completing the Edinburgh Marathon in 3hrs 49 mins.

He said: “I wanted to do a marathon before I turned 40 and after several failed attempts to get into the London Marathon I took the next best option and went to Edinburgh.

“I decided to run for Grantham Hospital, especially the A&E department, as I’ve always received great treatment there in my many visits as an injury-prone local footballer and many moons ago, as a 16 year old, they saved my leg after a severe break also whilst footballing.”

Ady recently visited the hospital to hand the cheque to the League of Friends of Grantham Hospital, who will ensure it is used towards further improving patient care.
