Mayoral year is complete

COUNCILLOR Mike Taylor will step down as Mayor of Grantham next week, as his term draws to a close.

This is Coun Taylor’s second year in office, after he served as the town’s mayor in 2003.

When the 64-year-old was elected last year, he told the Journal he hoped the people of Grantham would get behind their town rather than complain about it. He added that the work in Westgate and Station Approach would be a boost to Grantham.

As has every mayor before him, Coun Taylor has raised money for his chosen charities throughout the year. As well as the Army Benevolent Fund, ex-serviceman Coun Taylor chose to support Grantham Rescue of Cats and Kittens (ROCK), Grantham Lions Club and Grantham Carnival.

He is Conservative councillor for the Greyfriars ward and portfolio holder for strategic resources.
