St Peter’s Hill Players comedy specialists excelled themselves in their production of ‘Nuts in May’ which played at Grantham’s Congregational Church.

A glowing revue of the May 1971 production in the Grantham Journal said they really went “over the top” as they entertained with more than two hours of non-stop humour, revealing the troupe’s talents as actors, singers, dancers and comedians.

The production called for speed as they had to manoeuvre around 36 set changes and costumes on a very small stage.

The show had no producer, with the revue being the sole creation of scriptwriters and long-standing Players Brian Hickingbotham, Michael Parker and John Pye.
