Members of the Rotary Club of Grantham have donated £3,000 to Grantham and District Mencap, a charity which supports people with learning difficulties.
The donation will be used to purchase and promote a computer facility at the Cree Centre, the charity’s base. Those using the centre will be able to work towards the Gateway Award, a scheme which helps people with learning difficulties learn new skills. Half of the £3,000 donation came from the Rotary club’s foundation programme, and was matched by the Rotary District Foundation. Judith Burnette, a founder member of Grantham and District Mencap, thanked Rotarians for their donation and for all the support they have received from Rotary over the years, from installing the original kitchens at the Cree Centre to providing minibuses. Club president Kevin Lawry said: “We are delighted to support Grantham Mencap, an organisation that provide such a valuable service to the community of Grantham.”
