Plans for the proposed new multiplex cinema in Grantham will go on display to the public later this month.

People can view the details of the proposed development in the Newton Room of the Guildhall Arts Centre from 12pm to 6pm on Friday, September 19.

There will be a chance to leave feedback on the £5 million project on St Catherine’s Road that has been designed by NBDA architects that could include six screens and new office and retail units.

Solutions for the relocation of the existing Senior Citizens’ Club, St Catherine’s Road car park and bike storage facilities will also be outlined.

The proposed building will be constructed by landowners South Kesteven District Council and then leased back to end users.

SKDC’s portfolio holder for grow the ecomomy Coun Frances Cartwright said: “This is a good opportunity for the public to see the proposed plans. In conjunction with the Town Centre Masterplan this development would extend and

diversify the leisure offer within Grantham.

“The opportunity for new restaurants beside the extended cinema could create the potential for a new night-time destination and rejuvenate this part of the town. We welcome the public’s thoughts on the proposals.”

SKDC’s development control committee could decide on the proposed plans in September or October this year.

If given the go ahead, work could begin on the site later this year with a completion date of late 2015.
