THE new chairman of Lincolnshire County Council has vowed to champion farming in the county.

Coun Robert Palmer, pictured, became chairman on Friday last week.

He said: “I am very proud to have been elected chairman and look forward to serving as an ambassador for Lincolnshire.

“My aim this year is to promote farming and the excellent food we all know and love.

“During my tour of duty, I would like to raise the profile of Lincolnshire and its agricultural background and let everyone know why we were voted Britain’s favourite food spot.”

Coun Martin Hill continues in his role as leader of the council, with coun Eddy Poll and Coun Patricia Bradwell as his deputies.

Coun Hill said: “I want to ensure that every pound of public money is well spent and there is a high degree of openness, transparency and accountability as we deliver a value for money agenda.”
