The new KFC restaurant on Harlaxton Road is taking shape and should be ready to open by the summer.

David Hindmarch, of Grantham Estates which owns the land, said there is no opening date yet.

Mr Hindmarch said: “We will not have one for about another two months. Everything is going to plan and there are no issues. We have satisfied the Highways requirements.

“We hope the weather will stay fair and we would like to think we could be open in the early part of the summer.”

The new restaurant is expected to create 40 jobs.

It is being built on the site of the old Isaac Newton pub after councillors gave planning permission in August 2012.

In February of that year councillor’s rejected plans for the restaurant on the same site because they were not happy with the proposed look of the building.

Earlier this year a section of Harlaxton Road was widened to provide an area for cars to wait before turning into the site. The roadworks were delayed at the end of last year because of the
large programme of works already taking place in Springfield Road and London Road.
