No drugs but message to dealers is strong

Lincolnshire Police carry out a raid on a house in Uplands, Drive, Grantham.

A RAID carried out on a house in Grantham uncovered no drugs - but it sends out a strong message to would-be dealers regardless, say detectives.

Journal chief reporter Marie Baker joined pro-active detectives from Lincolnshire Police on Friday morning, as they forced entry into a house belonging to a suspect.

Using a battering ram, the team forced their way into the property and carried out a lengthy search.

Although no drugs were found, the detectives believe they were right to act on intelligence and hope criminals in the town take note.

One detective, who must stay anonymous, said: “We’re out there in the community and we’re planning to bring those people who are dealing drugs to justice.

“This has sent the message out that we’re not going to tolerate it in the town.”

According to the team, Grantham is “riddled” with drugs and Lincolnshire Police needs the help of the community to crack down on the problem.

The detective said: “If anyone knows of any drug dealing going on, ring Crimestoppers.

“It’s not a waste of time. We’re going to act on intelligence we receive. It does have quite a big impact on the community.

“However, people have to be patient. It sometimes takes months to build up a picture.”
