Pedestrian tunnel which links Huntingtower Road and Station Road will close on April 9 as part of the Grantham Clean and Green campaign.

Residents and commuters are reminded that a busy rail underpass in Grantham will close on Wednesday for a community action day of cleaning.

The walkway between Station Road and Huntingtower Road will close all day to pedestrians from 7.30am to 5.30pm.

Litter and graffiti will be cleared from the area thanks to the efforts of volunteer staff from Network Rail, South Kesteven District Council, East Coast Trains, British Transport Police and Huntingtower Community Primary Academy.

SKDC will supply bin bags, litter pickers, gloves and hi-vis vests and will assist with the removal of larger items of rubbish to be disposed of at the nearby Waste and Household Recycling Centre on Mowbeck Way.

Signs informing users of the closure are now posted at both ends of the tunnel.
