The second Barrowby Scarecrow Festival and open gardens event took place recently and proved a real success.
Locals and visitors toured the village to view the 25 family-built scarecrows and 10 sponsored scarecrows and wander around the seven open gardens.
The Old Bakery shop was open selling jams, cakes, chutneys and other produce made by church members.
Meanwhile, visitors to the church were able to learn about the art of bell-ringing and have a go.
The winning scarecrow design was a life-size pirate, complete with treasure chest. Second place went to a Journal-reading scarecrow installed into an outside toilet made from old doors.
Thanks to all the sponsors, scarecrow builders, volunteers and visitors, organisers are optimistic next year’s event will be even bigger and better.
