Rippingale man ran from Grantham store with bottles of alcohol
A FATHER who stole three bottles of alcohol from a Grantham supermarket had his case adjourned until October 5.
Gary Palmer, 36, of Station Street, Rippingale, was followed out of Morrisons by security at 6.15pm on August 29.
He admitted taking a bottle of brandy and two bottles of vodka.
He ran from security with the own-brand vodka and was found at 6.50pm drinking it.
Marie Stace, prosecuting, said: “He was drunk at the time. In interview he said he couldn’t remember anything of the incident.
“He had consumed so much he didn’t know why he was arrested.”
Stuart Wild, defending, said Palmer had an unenviable record, which was predominantly from trying to feed a heroin addiction. More recently he had moved from Grantham and started using methadone. But he also had been drinking excess alcohol.
Magistrates adjourned the case while a report is completed.
