Security catch running man in Grantham supermarket
A MAN failed to outrun security staff at a Grantham supermarket after he was caught trying to steal food and alcohol on July 3.
Paul Browne, 26, of Sidney Street, Grantham, admitted putting food and alcohol into a basket while drunk and then trying to leave Asda without paying. He dropped his basket and ran when confronted.
Browne admitted the offence when interviewed by police.
Judith Armstrong, defending, said Browne had been talking to a homeless man outside the shop and had gone in while drunk to get them food to share.
Browne has since sought help for his alcohol problem.
Magistrate Kevin Moody sentenced Browne to a conditional discharge and ordering him to pay £40 towards legal costs.
