Shoes plea from Grantham mother to help Kenyan schoolchildren

School shoes like these will be greatly appreciated in Kenya.

A mother from Gonerby Hill Foot who was inspired to sponsor a Kenyan child the same age as her daughter through school, is asking for donations of school shoes to send to Africa.

Sarah White became involved with the Osiligi Charity which helps to relieve poverty in the Maasai areas of Kenya, after their Warrior Troupe performed at St Wulfram’s last September.

The charity has built a primary school for the Maasai community and asks for sponsorship to fund local children’s education.

Mrs White said: “My daughter is eight-years-old and we sponsor a little girl of a similar age. The charity have this appeal for children’s school shoes so I thought I’d try and spread the word.

“Those shoes we throw out can have a new lease of life.”

Ideally the charity need black leather school shoes in sizes 10-3, and Mrs White is happy to collect them and can be contacted by calling 07786150998.
