A Bottesford-based deaf children’s charity teamed up with Harrowby United FC to host a six-a-side football tournament to raise funds towards its annual running costs.
Hear 4 Kidz benefits local families with children who have different types of hearing loss. Among the activities they provide are a summer and Christmas outing.
Twelve teams made up three leagues of four and they battled it out to reach the last eight before Harrowby United U17s and Grantham AFC met in the final. Harrowby went on to win 1-0 and collected the first Hear 4 Kidz Charity Cup.
Away from the football, there was face painting, bouncy castles, nail painting, hair braiding, a raffle, wine stall, and refreshments.
The charity’s Tim Smith said: “The trustees at Hear 4 Kidz would like to say a massive thank you to Indulge hair and beauty salon, Genes barber shop, The Gift Box, Siam Garden, The OK Diner and Little Chef at South Witham, Oblio’s, Grantham Saturday League and aUK. A special thanks goes out to Harrowby United for letting them use the stadium free of charge, providing the bouncy castles and assisting on the day.
“The day was a huge success and Hear 4 Kidz raised a fantastic £1,307.31. A special thanks to the event sponsors Environcom who matched this amount pound for pound, taking the total raised to £2,614.62.
“Discussions are already underway for a repeat in 2015 so watch this space.”
