South Kesteven District Council takes Grantham fly-tipper to court
Declan Kay, of Valley Road in Grantham, was fined for fly-tipping.
A Grantham man has paid the price after turning a picturesque area of countryside into a litter-strewn grot spot.
Declan Kay, of Valley Road, dumped fast food wrappers, plastic bottles, shoes, furniture and garden waste on a track off Heath Lane in Barkston Heath in August.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of depositing controlled waste without a waste management licence at Grantham Magistrates’ Court on Monday. Kay, 20, was fined £250 by magistrates.
South Kesteven District Council made the prosecution application.
Head of environmental services Mark Taylor said: “The council takes every case of fly-tipping exceptionally seriously and we will prosecute wherever possible.

“The fine and costs set out by the court sends out a warning to those thinking of disposing of waste in this manner.
“It is unacceptable and blights the communities we live in.”
After hearing the facts of the case the magistrates ordered him to pay the £250 fine plus the district council’s costs of £231.90.
