A Consul General from Portugal paid a visit to Grantham last week as part of a scheme to help the town’s Portuguese residents process residency papers.

Carlos de Sousa Amaro (pictured far right) visited St John’s Church, bringing with him a mobile consulate team who were able to process the residency papers of nearly 200 local Portuguese residents, saving them costly trips to Manchester or London.
Also present at St John’s were the Rev David Stenton and event organiser Jayne Robb, as well as Councillors Charmaine Morgan and Mark Ashberry, and a careers advisor.
A repeat event is planned for June, due to the success of the first.
