Teen grabbed Grantham Street Warden

A CHARGE of being drunk and disorderly was dropped when the 18-year-old defendant agreed to be bound-over to keep the peace.

The court heard how Ashley Joynes of Toll Bar Road, Grantham was arrested after becoming involved in a town centre scuffle.

Two men were fighting in Westgate with a Street Warden attempting to separate them when Joynes grabbed the warden, preventing them from helping to calm the situation.

Graham Harmon, chair of magistrates, said: “These Street Wardens do a fantastic job in the evenings. They stop a lot of trouble and help the police immensely.

“They don’t need people like you stepping in.”

Joynes was ordered to keep the peace for six months. If he does not he will have to pay £100.
