The Angel receives worldwide acclaim

The Angel and Royal won its award after topping a poll on Facebook.

A WORLDWIDE award has been won by the Angel and Royal hotel after it topped a Facebook poll for “Most Historic Hotel”.

The town centre hotel saw off competition from other hotels in the Best Western group across the world. Other category winners included the Viva Porto de Gaunhas in Brazil and the Shenzhen Felicity Hotel in China.

General manager Jane Green (right of centre) said: “It’s fantastic news for us as it is in our first year as a member of Best Western.

“We’re excited to have such recognition, going up against hotels around the world and it’s great people took the time to vote for us.”

An official award ceremony is planned for later this year in Las Vegas, USA.
