A planning application to alter the retail park on Gonerby Road and open a branch of home, garden and leisure retailer The Range has been given conditional approval by South Kesteven District Council.

The decision was made on May 15 to give permission to the applicants White Young Green Planning and Design, enabling the construction of the store and accompanying garden centre.

Amongst the reasons for approval given in the decision notice from SKDC’s Interim Lead Officer Development Management Tim Furnell, was the improvement it would make to the appearance of the retail park and the increased investment it would bring into the local economy.

According to the plans over 100 jobs will be provided and retained as a result.

SKDC’s portfolio holder for grow the economy, Councillor Frances Cartwright, said: “I am pleased that the development control committee has approved the application for The Range.

“I am excited that another national retailer has recognised that Grantham has a growing population and is a great place to do business. I look forward to seeing the store open.”

Dates of when construction will begin and the store opened to the public have not yet been released.
