Farmers are being warned to remain vigilant after the theft of a JCB overnight.
The yellow JCB Telehandler 535 with the registration FX12 GNO was taken sometime between 5.30pm yesterday and 7.30pm this morning when it was discovered missing by the owner.
The vehicle which had been locked and secured with keys was stolen from a secluded farmer’s field located between the villages of Welby and Ancaster.
The offenders have removed a bale lift from the front of the lifting arm and left this piece of equipment behind, which suggests that they knew what they were doing and may have canvassed the farm and area prior to identifying the JCB to steal.
The JCB is distinctive in that it has two flashing orange beacons on top of it, which was a factory fitted optional extra requested by the owner.
This is fairly rare as most other JCBs only have one beacon.
Anyone with any information, or who spots anything suspicious is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 54 of July 23.
