NEW friends Richard Flowers and David Hubbard hope to raise £1,500 for Macmillan by climbing three peaks in 24 hours.

The pair met through their parents and decided to immediately team up to raise money for the cancer charity.

Richard of Oxford Street in Grantham said: “We’ve only met each other twice before. My mother and Dave’s father are partners so that’s how we know each other.”

Dave added: “But we’re getting on like a house on fire and we can’t wait to get started!”

The pair will begin their trek on October 5 by tackling Ben Nevis before moving on to Scafell Pike and finally Snowden.

Richard, 27, has done some mountaineering before but 18-year-old Dave of Wolverhampton is new to it.

Richard said: “We have both been out training, running and walking and doing lots of walking up hills.”

The pair decided to raise money for Macmillan because of the help the charity gave Richard’s mother.

Richard said: “My mother was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer last year. Macmillan have been there for her and the whole family so we wanted to raise money to give something back.”

The pair have already raised £1,000. You can donate to the lads’ effort by text. Do donate £5 text: “TFTB £5” to 70071.
