Two motorcyclists die in accident on the edge of Grantham

TWO motorcyclists from the Grantham area died in a crash on the A52 near Prince William of Gloucester Barracks just after 8.30pm on Sunday.

Jonathan Kiely, 43, from Corby Glen, and Richard Durham, 31, from Grantham, were pronounced dead at the scene after the red Honda CBR 600cc motorcycle they were riding was involved in a collision with a white Fiat Punto.

Two men from Surrey, who were in the Punto, were taken to Lincoln County Hospital with neck injuries. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 25-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman and a four-year-old girl from London who were in a Volkswagen Polo that was also involved in the accident are believed to be unhurt.

A section of the A52 was closed for much of Monday while the road was repaired and investigations carried out.

• A second accident involving a motorcycle took place on the A607 near Denton on the morning of bank holiday Monday.

A man in his 50s was seriously injured after he lost control of his red Yamaha 1,000cc motorcycle at about 7.40am.

He was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
