Update 2: Rail disruption caused by male “obstructing” the line at Grantham

Police activity around Grantham Train Station this evening was due to a male “obstructing” the line, according to the British Transport Police (BTP).

BTP officers were joined by officers from Lincolnshire Police and the man was arrested.

7.50pm: According to East Midlands Trains there are no further delays on the railway.

The train operator tweeted: “Services through #Grantham are no longer affected by the earlier disruption.”

The cause of disruption is not yet clear.

7.37pm: Train delays are reported on the railway near Grantham amid unconfirmed reports of an incident on the line.

National Rail has tweeted about delays on the line, stating: “Safety checks of the line are being made at #Grantham - delays of up to 45 minutes are expected until further notice.”

However, a passenger on a train which has stopped on the bridge near Asda has been in touch to report police officers on the line and emergency services at Grantham Train Station. This report is unconfirmed.
