Demonstrations in Grantham on Saturday passed peacefully, with no arrests made.

Members of the English Defence League met at the Blue Bull in Westgate as planned, and carried out their march to St Peter’s Hill, along Wharf Road.

Here, several speakers took centre-stage during a static rally.

Meanwhile, a few metres away was counter-protest group the Grantham Solidarity Network, where speeches were made by a number of representatives.

The demonstrations drew to a close by 3pm. Supt Phil Vickers confirmed there were no arrests but several warnings were given for the use of foul or loud language.
