The Grantham Journal hosted its annual Grantham is Great Awards at the Guildhall last night to highlight the excellent work done by many people in the area.
Among the award winners was Josh Brown who won the Sportsperson of the Year award. He is an elite athlete who has competed at county, regional, national and international level, and has won medals in hurdles, high jump and relay.
He is a student at the prestigious Millfield School in Somerset. He was unable to be at the awards ceremony and so his mother collected the award on his behalf.
But after the ceremony he told the Journal: “I feel really good about it. I am surprised to win. I wasn’t at all sure I would get it.” Josh said his aim was to take part in an Olympic Games.
Runners-up in the Sportsperson of the Year category were Laura Graves and Hannah Noutch.
